Remote Communication Options for Marsh-McBirney Products

In case you haven't noticed, communications technology is moving at a breakneck pace.  Common protocols today were mere fantasy only a few years ago.  Marsh-McBirney customers know that we pride ourselves on developing innovative and effective technologies for water and wastewater flow measurement.  By putting our resources into measuring technologies we are able to consistently remain at the forefront of our industry.

Wired, Wireless, or World Wide Web?

Don't want to be tied down by land lines?  Wireless connections to Flo-Dar flowmeters are currently being used to serve data to end-users via the World Wide Web. 

Marsh-McBirney and Telog Instruments have created a test site to demonstrate the power in combining the technologies of these two companies to better serve their customers.  The test site is located in Frederick, Maryland. 

The System
A Marsh-McBirney Flo-Dar unit has been mounted in a wastewater manhole upstream of a municipal lift station.  The Flo-Dar flowmeter is directly interfacing with a Telog RS-33 recorder system with CDPD wireless communications.  Flo-Dar data is sent back to a Telog web server over the Internet by the RS-33 system.  The web server then stores the data in its Microsoft SQL database and creates the web page displaying the data.  You can view these data live on your PC by following the link below.

Wireline Modems
For customers with wired telephone connections at their monitoring site we have teamed up with Savannah Environmental to provide remote, high speed modem connections to their flowmeters.  Key features of the system include:

• Operates with Flo-Dar flowmeters and most future MMI flowmeters.
• High speed land-line connection
• Built in error detection/correction.
• Plugs directly into existing Flo-Dar Model 464 flowmeters as an "add-on".
• Directly compatible with Flo-Ware for Windows.
• Reduces or eliminates on-site visits.
• Perfect retrofit for older existing flowmeter networks.
